James J. Sorebo, CLU®, serves as Senior Vice President, Community Banks for Highland Capital Brokerage. Jim started his financial services career in 1979 and was an executive with an industry-leading insurance and investment company. Jim founded and was CEO of Four Seasons Financial Group a market leading bank and broker/dealer wholesaler from 1993 to 2018 before selling to Highland. As a recognized speaker and sales trainer, Jim has been a featured speaker before industry trade groups like the Life Insurance and Market Research Association (LIMRA), bank and broker/dealer sales conferences, and insurance company conventions. A graduate of Minnesota State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Jim is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®), and a member of both the Society of Financial Service Professionals and Bank Insurance and Securities Association (BISA). Jim has given back to the industry in numerous ways over his career. He is currently serving as the President of the National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA) Charitable Foundation, having served on the NAILBA board for six years, and was its Chairman in 2017. Additionally, he participated in the Association for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU, now renamed Finseca) and their Brokerage Task force, building relationships with the Members of Congress on the issues affecting our industry. In 2021 he was honored as a NAILBA ID Twenty Awards recipient as Independent Distribution’s most courageous innovators, visionaries, change-makers, trailblazers, and leaders, who have made important contributions to the insurance profession. Jim serves on the board of directors for The Lone Survivor Foundation, which restores, empowers, and renews hope for our wounded warriors and their families suffering from PTSD, Jim is a board member of an Insuretech start up called iCover, revolutionizing the industry by changing life insurance underwriting to 5 minutes. Jim resides in West Berlin, New Jersey with his wife, Kathy, and has two daughters, Madeline and Allison. When not involved with family, Jim is often found on the golf course or enjoying a good bottle of wine with friends.
